Telegram Private Video Downloader Bots: Which Are Safe?

Downloader bots are the most-recommended answer to this question and the least-explained. The important fact is structural: a bot is a separate Telegram account, and it can only see what is deliberately sent to it. Everything about which bots are safe follows from that one sentence.
It also explains the split in this category. Bots that ask you to forward a video are working within Telegram's rules. Bots that ask for your login are not downloaders at all.
What a bot can genuinely see
When you message a bot, you are messaging another account. It has no window into your chats. It cannot browse the private channel you joined last week, because from Telegram's point of view that bot was never admitted to it.
A bot can only access media in three situations:
- You forward it directly to the bot.
- The bot was added to the channel as a member by an admin.
- The content is public and reachable by a plain t.me link.
That is the whole list. There is no fourth case, which is why a bot advertising instant access to any private channel is describing something that does not exist.
The safe pattern vs. the dangerous one

The third row deserves emphasis, because it is presented as a routine setup step. A Telegram login code is not a password you can quietly rotate afterwards — it authorises a full session. Whoever holds it can read your messages, message your contacts as you, and set a 2FA password that locks you out of your own account before you notice. No download has ever required it.
The catch even with the honest bots
Forwarding-based bots work, but two limitations are worth knowing before you rely on one:
- Your media passes through someone else's server. You are uploading a file to an operator you know nothing about, with no stated retention policy. For anything personal, that is a real consideration.

How to evaluate any bot in under a minute
- Does it ever mention your phone number or login code? Stop there.
- Does it claim access to channels you have not joined? Impossible, so the claim itself tells you what it is.

Common questions
Are all downloader bots scams? No. Forwarding-based bots do a real job honestly. The scam subset is specifically the one claiming private-channel access without forwarding, because that capability cannot exist without your account.
Can I add a bot to my own channel to archive it? Yes — if you are an admin, adding a bot as a member is legitimate and it can then see new posts. That is a genuine use case and it does not involve credentials.
Does the bot keep a copy of my video? Assume yes unless the operator says otherwise in writing. You have no way to verify deletion.
